French Inspired Chair... a love story...

Its almost Valentines Day... who doesn't enjoy a great love story this time of year!
You may remember my French Inspired Chair from a few months back. Well, that chair was a "he".
Just look at him. All handsome and manly.
A couple weeks ago my mom walked into my house with one of the yuckiest chairs I've ever seen!  She picked it up at a yard sale.

The crustated food was so bad it had to be sanded off.  I might not be the cleanest person in the world but this I just can't understand!

The seat fabric was tossed and new padding stapled onto the chair bottom.

There is a good chance I may have just thrown it out if I didn't realize I had one more piece of this french fabric and that this was for sure the girl version of my original French chair!  He had a mate! There were destined to be together!  Ok... enough of that.  On to some beauty shots.

This girl got a newly padded seat and pretty new cover in my last piece of the French fabric.  I wish I knew who made this exact design but I do not.  The chair was sanded, primed, and painted with Sherwin Williams Jogging Path.  A light distressing and then a quick wipe of walnut stain to antique.  I wipe it on with an old t-shirt, let it sit for maybe 30 seconds, and then begin wiping it right back off.   It just richens up the color and I promise you can't mess this up.

Thank you Dear Sweet Mother-In-Law for allowing us to inherit the beautiful antique Secretary.  Also, the books on the shelf were my husbands grandfathers from medical school.  Beautiful, meaningful, and infomative (complete with notes he wrote in them!).

Living room or dining room together as a pair??  This is the question?

Mis-matched dining chairs is the latest greatest thing right?  All these chairs will be getting a coat of paint soon!

Add a bench with a ruffled slip cover... oooh yes!  Don't mind if I do!

Now... for the best part... this chair was FREE for me!  Even IF I didn't happen to already have all the stuff it still would have cost under $20.  1/4 yard of fabric ($8), tester of paint ($5), called my mother to find out she paid $5 for the chair and whalla... $18 total!
