Save The Date! Finders Keepers Sale Sept. 19-22

We are beyond excited to get to be a part of the sisterhood these women have created!  Stay tuned this week for some previews of products we will be bringing to the sale if we can pull ourselves out of the workroom for a minute.  We have been sewing machines the last couple weeks!! (Pun fully intended :-)

Do come join us for a glass of wine of Wednesday evening to get you in the spirit to buy any number of things that I promise will make you happy for years to come.  Am I the only one that thinks a new piece of furniture, a new mirror, or a new set of pillows is a gift that keeps on giving?  You know, like every time you walk by your new goods you are still super pumped you made that purchase because it makes that one little spot in your house that much more beautiful!

One of my favorite aspects of Finders Keepers is that for the most part you are buying one of a kind items.  You aren't going to walk into your neighbors house and see the exact same thing hanging on their wall as you have on yours. Don't you hate it when that happens?!?  Kind of like walking into a party and having on the exact same dress as someone else... you are laughing on the outside but want to sneak out that back door to go change on the inside!

Pawleys Island Girls Weekend and Shabby Apple Giveaway Winner!

What do you get when you put 11 usually proper, predominately Southern, mostly 30 something, and mainly moms into a house on the beach for a weekend with no kids and no husbands.... you really don't want to know.  And besides... what happens at Pawley's on girls weekend stays at Pawley's!!
Rebekah and I at Pawley's Island Tavern or the PIT.

Suffice it to say we drank a couple mimosas...
The only thing good I can come up with concerning my appearance in this picture is atleast I'm clean?!?!

...we had a cartwheel contest (and maybe a "see who can run the fastest and farthest into the ocean without falling first" contest.)

...we shopped.  If you are ever in Pawley's you absolutely MUST go to Currents Home Furnishings.  Their wall of samples of every single Dash & Albert rug available is enough to put you into a money spending trance!

We worked out a little and laid out a lot!  (My booty is still sore from my 1/4 workout.... out of shape much?)

We ate ridiculous amounts of junk food!  You know, all the stuff that it's not even worth it to have at home because it's too hard to sneak it without your kids catching you!
Should I be embarassed to post this... because I'm not!  Besides, there are avacoados pictured here too... and they are a Super food!

The Chive Blossom is my favorite resteraunt at Pawleys.  A Strawberry Basil Martini and.... wait for it... Grilled Pimento Cheese, Avacado, and Bacon Sandwhich.  Seriously!!!!

We also may have had a glass of wine and a margarita or two.  A sausage ball or two.  And a laugh or two.  For your next girls weekend the two things that are a must would be the Salt N Peppa station on Pandora (turn it on now!) and a rule that everyone must do exactly what THEY want to do.  Whether its nap, shop, boogie board (Rebekah!!) cook, eat out, stay up late or go to bed early.  Our only rule was that everyone did only what they wanted to do with absolutely no judgement and it worked out perfectly!  I wish for you all such an amazing group of girls to hang out with!!

NOW... onto the most important aspect of business for the day.... THE $50 SHABBY APPLE GIVEAWAY WINNER IS.............. drum roll please................. Lucky number 2!
Pam Allen who said "I couldn't pick just one favorite item but I am n love with the entire Twin Palms collection!"  Pam, I'll be sending you an email shortly!  For my very scientific process of picking a winner please watch the video below.  Maybe not scientific... but cute and unequivocally fair!

Lastly, Rebekah and family are loading back up in the car on Thursday to head down to NC for Labor Day weekend which for us is going to include massive amounts of work at Finders Keepers and also some trips to the Apple Festival.  If you are in Western NC or close you should head up because who doesn't love a good festival (and a good apple!!).

Is it seriously almost September?!?!

Last Summer Fling Chevron

As I said yesterday, I just don't think I am fully ready to give up on summer!  My children are back in school, the days are getting shorter, but I am just not ready to let go.  So when I showed Michelle at Urban Merchant a few of the fabrics Kandi had found on one of her recent shopping trips and she said she wanted them all, I was thrilled!  So I jumped into my car, and drove 5 hours to Hendersonville for a little fabric therapy.  The rest of that story is here!

All of these pillows have been delivered and are waiting for you at Urban Merchant!  Pillows are priced between $42-55 dollars and include a down insert.

We also made coordinating reversible table runners.  We paired the chevron with a coordinating, french script.  Runners are 54" long and  retail for $22 each.

For those of you that already have a million pillows, because you love to change out your look, we have made pillow covers.  Pillow covers retail for $28 and are approximately 18x18 in size.

All of these fun pillows and table runners will also be available at the upcoming Finders Keepers  sale September 19-22 in Henderson NC. Lastly we can not resist sharing part of the vintage apothecary bottles collection.

They are the perfect size for a single flower.  Prices range between $3-$7.

Have a great day!  I am about to get on my boogie board and head out into the waves!  Summer is not over yet!

Chevron

Have you been bitten by the chevron bug yet?  On one of our recent shopping trips in Hendersonville, Kandi and I came across a vendor with a stash of Chevron in all kinds of bright fun colors.  I would give you the name of the store, but I am pretty sure we bought them out....Here is a little preview.  I will share more on this project tomorrow...

Sneak Peak at a couple new lines. BE VERY EXCITED!

It is always hard to know what to do with a couple yards of fabric.  But we decided table runners and pillows were always a safe bet.  I know fall is coming, but I just can't help wanting one last summer fling.   Here are pictures....Oh, along with the table runners and pillows I came across just a "few" vintage medicine bottles while out shopping the other day....here is my last summer look...

I could not resist putting a few bottles in my window.  Believe it or not all of those flowers were from one little $4.99 bouquet.  If you are looking to replicate this look, any bottle can be used, and stick to a simple flower...nothing fancy here...

So I have been feeling kind of bad that I have not written a tutorial for you lately!  So in the next coming weeks I plan to share with you two tutorials!  1.  How to make these adorable table runners.  (Just in time for the holidays!)  2.  And finally I am going to show you how to sew a knife edge zippered pillow. (complete with a mini zipper tutorial)

Come back tomorrow, Kandi and I are going to share a "few" more Chevron pillows with you!  Don't forget to check out yesterday's post!  I want wish I could be the lucky winner!Shabby Apple Giveaway!

$50 Apple Giveaway and 10% off all orders! **GIVEAWAY CLOSED**

So, I have been crushing on Shabby Apple and all their amazing clothes, jewelry, and home goods for quite a while now.  Their designs are different enough that when you walk into a room people say, "Where did you get that?!" but not so crazy that they say it behind your back instead of to your face...(OHHHH, you've never done that?  Yeah, me either!)

They also have a pretty great mission.  Their website says it best.

"We started Shabby Apple because we saw a need in women’s fashion that was not being met. A need to make women feel feminine and beautiful for what they wear, not what they bare. We offer flirty, stylish dresses a woman can wear just as comfortably in the office, at a family dinner, or on a date. Shabby Apple is a fashion company for women, by women, and of women.
Because serving women and families is a core value at Shabby Apple, we devote a certain percentage of our net proceeds to charitable causes serving women and children.

One final point of excitement for me... they offer fast and free returns!  That way, when you're in denial and order a size 8 you can send it back super easily for something that will actually fit....(OHHHH, you've never done that? Yeah, me either!)  Ha!

Giveaway Rules:
2.  Leave a comment below telling me what is your favorite Shabby Apple item.
3.  You must have a USA shipping address as well.

Leave a comment for each and make sure you leave an email address where I can find you or I'll have to pick another winner!

We will pick our winner on Tuesday.

It would also be cool if you wanted to follow Woven Home via Google Friends, Linky or on Facebook.   If you do that leave comments for each and get extra entries!

Lastly.... the girls over at Shabby Apple were so awesome to offer all our readers 10% off!  Just use coupon code wovenhome10off

On a seperate yet equally as awesome note... Rebekah and I are headed to Pawley's Island with 9 other girls for the most amazeballs girls weekend you could ever dream up (i.e. laying on the beach drinking a margarita {at 10 a.m.} and not having to feel like an unfit mother for it)!!  I'm sure there will be pictures and stories galore for your reading pleasure over the weekend :-)

Yay!  Goodluck!

Happy Birthday Pennant Banner: Tutorial

This pennant banner made from scrapbook paper was not only free to make but also took only about 20 minutes to make.  No brainer!

Here is a simple tutorial.

1. Print your letters.  I used these from Martha Stewart.
2.  Pick your scrapbook paper.  I used 12x12 which will give you six pennants per sheet.
3. Fold your paper in half to make a rectangle.
4. Mark the top of your paper at the middle and the bottom in thirds.  If you look closely you can see the pencil marks.
5.  Use a ruler and connect the dots.  Look closely again and you can see the outline of your pennants. 6.  Cut them out.
7. Cut out your letters.  Punch holes in the top corners of your pennants. Glue letters to your pennants.
8.  Thread a length of ribbon through your pennants making sure to leave enough on either end to make hanging easy.

That's it!  Big impact on decor...tiny impact on time.... zero impact on budget! And one happy little two year old who still walk around singing "Happy Birthday To My Party..."!!
